Raipur, February 20, 2013: Three days ahead of the main budget, Chhattisgarh Assembly today passed the third supplementary budget of Rs 887 crore in a voice vote.

The third supplementary budget of Rs 886.88 crore, which was moved by Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh, who also holds the Finance portfolio, was passed by the house on voice vote.

In this supplementary budget, the total outlay of the Chhattisgarh Budget has touched Rs 41,711 crore from the main budget figure of Rs 37,574 crore.

In the year 2001-2002 the budget of the state was Rs 7,295 crore.

Participating in the debate, former Deputy Speaker Dharamjeet Singh of Congress said when the Government had failed to utilise 50 per cent of the budget till date, what was the point of giving the third supplementary budget.

Replying to a discussion on the supplementary budget, Chief Minister Singh said the Electricity Regularity Authority had fixed the tariff in a higher rate, but to give relief to the consumers, the state government fixed the price in a low rate and to meet that gap, the state government should pay the Electricity Company.

Singh also said about 25 per cent of the population of Chhattisgarh uses Kerosene and to address their problem solar lights would be provided to them, for which Rs 220 crore has been made provision in this Supplementary budget.
