Chhattisgarh approved Rs 3000 cr working plan for mining area development

Raipur, September 02, 2016: Chhattisgarh government today approved an ambitious working plan of Rs 3000 crore for the development of mines affected areas of the state.

A high level meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh, approved the working plan and also took several important decisions for the welfare of the project affected people of mining areas.

"The state government will bear the tuition fees for medical, engineering, law and management studies of the people ousted from mining areas," Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh said.

The state government would spend the money from the District Mineral Foundation Trust (DMFS) for the expenditure of study in professional government colleges, he said.

The meeting also approved a road map for development of mining areas for the next three years, with an expenditure of Rs 3000 crore.

At the district level Rs 581 crore has already been deposited under the DMFT, Mines Department officials informed the Chief Minister in the meeting.

It was decided to spend the money in drinking water, conservation of environment, education, skill development, agriculture and infrastructure development for public welfare.

ACS N Baijendra Kumar, Principal Secretary Aman Kumar Singh, PS Forest Rajendra Prasad Mandal PS Technical Education Renu G Pillay Secretary Mines Subodh Kumar Singh, Secretary Public Relations Santosh Kumar Mishra and Director Mines Reena Baba Saheb Kangale participated in the discussion on the District Mineral Foundation Trust, officials said.
