EC clears Six Pay Commission proposal

Raipur, March 21, 2009: The Election Commission of India today cleared the proposal of the Chhattisgarh Government to give salary to its employees as per the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission.

After objection were raised by some quarters on the issue saying the state was under the electioneering and the model code of conduct was in force hence the BJP government would not be allowed to give the salary to its employees from April 1, next as per the recommendation of the Sixth Pay Commission.

On instruction of the Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh, the state government had written letter to the Election Commission of India seeking approval on the matter.

The government said not only the announcement was made long back but also there were provisions under the budget to give salary as per the recommendation, hence he state employees should not be deprived of the facilities, the state said.

"We have received a communication today that the Election Commission had cleared that proposal of the state, which means 2.15 lakh state government employees would get benefit from the decision," top state government sources told the ChhattisgarhTopNews.Com.
