     Raipur, November 14, 2025: For increasing Chhattisgarh’s irrigation potential, improving groundwater levels, and strengthening drinking water supply in urban areas Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai today held a high level discussion with his ministers and top officials.

     The 33rd meeting of the Chhattisgarh Irrigation Project Board, the first of the current government’s tenure, was held today at the Mantralaya Mahanadi Bhawan under the chairmanship of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai.

     The meeting held detailed discussions on increasing the state’s irrigation potential, improving groundwater levels, and strengthening drinking water supply in urban areas. Also in-principle approval was granted to 14 new projects across various sectors, official sources said.

     Chief Minister Sai told the meeting that increasing farmers’ income and agricultural production is the top priority of his government. For this, the irrigation network is being continuously expanded.

      He stated that increasing irrigation area will not only benefit farmers but will also improve groundwater levels and ensure better drinking water supply.

      The meeting held extensive discussions on expanding irrigation facilities to the plains, including Sarguja and Bastar. The Chief Minister took detailed information on the design, cost, and benefits of all the projects and stated that these projects will be accelerated to ensure balanced development across the state.

      It is noteworthy that these projects will increase the irrigation capacity of approximately one lakh hectares in the state.

     These projects include Deurgaon Barrage cum Lift Irrigation Project in Bastar district, Matnar Barrage cum Lift Irrigation Project in Bastar district, Mohmela Sirpur Barrage Scheme on Mahanadi in Arang development block of Raipur district, and construction of Ahiran to Gajrinala Water Augmentation (Kharang Ahiran Link Project) work approved.

      Approval was given to Chhapratola Feeder Reservoir Project under Kota Development Block of Bilaspur district, laying of pipeline from Samoda Barrage to Kumhari Reservoir under Kumhari Reservoir Water Capacity Enhancement (Jalavardhan) Scheme, Sahagaon Lift Irrigation Scheme of Dhamdha Development Block of Durg district, construction work of Lamti Feeder Reservoir and canals in Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai district, water supply scheme through pipeline from Chowki Anicut to Mohra Anicut for drinking water in Mohra Anicut located in Rajnandgaon district, Bagia Barrage cum Pressurized Lift Irrigation Scheme in Maini River of Jashpur district.

     The works included Parasahi Pressurized Lift Irrigation Project under Major Project Augmentation under Hasdeo Bango Project in Janjgir-Champa district, Madwarani Barrage Construction cum Lift Irrigation Scheme in Korba district, Sikasar Reservoir to Kodar Reservoir Link Canal (Pipeline) Scheme under Pairi Project in Gariaband district and construction of Lift Feeder Irrigation from Paraghat Diversion Scheme for augmentation of Left Bank Canal of Kharang Reservoir Scheme in Bilaspur district.

     Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao, Agriculture Minister Ramvichar Netam, Finance Minister OP Chaudhary, Chief Secretary Vikas Sheel, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Subodh Kumar Singh, Energy Department Secretary Rohit Yadav, Secretary to Chief Minister Mukesh Kumar Bansal, Water Resources Department Secretary Rajesh Sukumar Toppo, Chief Engineer Indrajit Uikey and senior officers of Water Resources Department were present in the meeting.
