Raipur, March 10, 2011: British Deputy High Commissioner in India Sanjay Wadvani today underlined the importance of a closer partnership between United Kingdom and Chhattisgarh saying the decade old state has a lot of opportunity.
In an exclusive interview to ChhattisgarhTopNews.Com, the British Deputy High Commissioner said "Chhattisgarh is a new territory with lot of opportunities and vast potential".
Quite upbeat with the economic potential of the state, the Kolkata based diplomat said the British Government and its private companies wanted to work here in Chhattisgarh for a medium and long term basis.
Whether it was mining or financial sector, education or water purification, British companies and organizations wanted to cooperate with the people of Chhattisgarh in improving the environment here, he said.
A delegation of seven companies, including diamond major Rio Tinto, mining major P & H Joy Mining, Financial institute HSBC, Lloyd's Register Group, Scotmas, Eaga Energy are currently camping in Chhattisgarh to have one to one interaction with the local industries, he said.
Earlier in the day, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the UK Trade and Investment had organized an event under the banner of UK and Chhattisgarh in Partnership at the Babylon Hotel to discuss various issues concerning both sides.
The seminar was organized in Raipur to showcase the expertise and interests of UK business to the state of Chhattisgarh, which was well received by the domestic companies, CII Chhattisgarh Head Prateek Pandey told ChhattisgarhTopNews.Com.
