Korba, March 25, 2011: Chhattisgarh Administration today ordered a magistrate probe into the controversial suicide death of a farmer Kartik Ram Ratre.
Additional District Collector Abhaya Mishra would probe the death of Ratre, an official communication said.
District Collector R P S Tyagi was under tremendous pressure after media and other reports suggested that the farmer Ratre of Pahanda village under Korba Tehsil had consumed poison on March 17 and died the same day as he was facing problems in getting compensation.
There were allegations from some quarters that the farmer was feeling harassed for compensation for his land acquired for a private Lanko Power plant at Patadhi in Korba district.
ADM Mishra would probe under which circumstances Ratre committed suicide and from where he got the poison to consume and at the time of consuming poison, who else were present, officials said.
Mishra has been asked to submit his report within seven days.
