Chhattisgarh Population 2.55 crore, 71.04 PC literate

Raipur, April 3, 2011: Chhattisgarh housed 2.11 per cent population of the country and the population of the decade old state has touched 2.55 crore with 71.04 per cent are literate, new Census report said.

As on March 01, 2011, the population of India has touched 1,21,01,93,422.

Similarly the population of Chhattisgarh has touched 2,55,40,196, out of which 1,28,27,915 male and 1,27,12,281 are female, according to the latest Census report.

Against the new national density of population of 382 per sq km, Chhattisgarh has a density of 189 per Sq Km, which was 154 during the last Census.

Janjgir-Champa district is the highly density district with 421 population, where as Narayanpur with 20 people per sq km is the lowest population density district.

Chhattisgarh has 991 female against 1000 male, which was 989 in 2001 census, where as the new national ratio is 940.

Districts like Bastar, Dantewada, Kanker, Mahasamund, Rajnandgaon, Dhamtari and Jashpur have more female than male and that figure crossed over 1000.

Bastar has the highest female of 1024 and Korba and Korea have the lowest 971 female against 1000 male.

On the literacy front, 71.04 per cent of the population is literate against the national average of 74.04 per cent.

The literacy rate was 64.66 per cent during last census

Durg is on the top of the highest literate districts with 79.69 per cent where as Bijapur with 41.58 per cent, is the lowest with literate people.

Of the 71.04 per cent literate, 81.45 are male and 60.59 are female.

There is an increase in 4.08 per cent among male and 8.74 per cent among female literacy, the Census report 2011 revealed.
