Raipur, April 05, 2011: It seems Bastar police was not prepared to provide full security blanket for conducting free and fair election, because of which a move was on to change the location of some of the polling booths for May 8 Bastar Lok Sabha by-poll.
Apprehensive about violence during the poll, the district administration of Bastar wanted to change the location of some of the polling booths, official sources said.
Fearing poll violence, it had been suggested that two or more booths should be clubbed together and the new location should be made in a safer place, they said.
On this regard consultation was on among various political leaders to reach a consensus, they said.
Two or more sensitive booths of nearby villages should be clubbed together and made one booth for polling on May 8, the sources said adding the proposal needs the seal of the Election Commission to execute at the ground level.
As per the schedule, the notification would be issued on April 11, next, and with that the nomination process would be started and continue till April 18.
The scrutiny would be held on April 19, where as withdrawal of nomination on April 21.
Polling would takes place on May 8 and counting on May 13, the Election Commission has said.
