Gram Suraj not a test for Collectors: Raman

Dr.Raman Singh

Raipur, April 20, 2011: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh today denied that the Gram Suraj Abhiyan was an examination of the performance of the 18 District Collectors of the state.

"It is not the test of the District Collectors. Rather a review of 19 big works of the state government," the Chief Minister told a select group of journalists here before flying for the day-two of the Gram Suraj Abhiyan-2011.

He, however, said Gram Suraj has raised the expectation of the people towards developmental works and good governance.

Sharing his experience of the first day of the Gram Suraj, Singh said the forces from the Indo-Tibetan Border Police were really happy to see him in their camp yesterday at Sitagaon under Manpur block of Rajnandgaon district, close to Maharashtra border.

Although people from Sitagaon had put forth some demands before him, the villagers of Baharsari said they have absolutely no demands, which was also a pleasant experience, he said.

N Baijendra Kumar, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister and Aman Singh, Secretary to the Chief Minister have also accompanied Singh on his day two surprise visit of a couple of places in Mahasamund, Raipur, Dhamtari and Kanker districts.
