Why not Chhattisgarhi newspapers in Chhattisgarh: Speaker

Bilaspur, April 27, 2011: Chhattisgarh Assembly Speaker Dharam Lal Kaushik today urged media houses and journalists to start Chhattisgarhi newspapers in the state.

Addressing a conference of the Bilaspur District Shramajivi Patrakar Sangh, the Speaker said when Odisha has Odia, Andhra Pradesh has Telugu and Gujarat has Gujarati newspapers why Chhattisgarh never has any Chhattisgarhi language news paper.

Along with Hindi, news should be in Chhattisgarhi languages also, he said in the presence of Bilaspur District President Shramajivi Patrakar Sangh Ravi Shukla and scores of other journalists.

Stating that pen is mightier than sword, the Speaker said parliamentary democracy, judiciary and executive would become stronger if there is a vibrant media in the country.

Three of the best and daring rural journalists Jogendra Singh, Hanuman Agrawal and Sakhan Darve were also honoured in the conference.

Journalists from Janjgir-Champa, Kawardha, Korba, Sarguja, Bilaspur and Raigarh had attended the conference.
