Hunger free Chhattisgarh, its new identity: M M Joshi

Raipur, November 05, 2011: Chhattisgarh has earned a new identity of hunger free state under the able leadership of Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh, former union Minister Dr Murli Manohar Joshi told the closing ceremony of the Rajyotshav-2011 today.

Chhattisgarh has introduced a model public distribution system, which had given it a new identity of hunger free state, Joshi told the function this evening.

The senior BJP leader also honoured people from various walks of life for their outstanding contribution in various fields.

Joshi, impressed with the achievement of Chhattisgarh in its journey of 11 years, said hardly there was a state, which had achieved so many successes despite having trouble and violence.

Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh said the journey of development in Chhattisgarh was unstoppable.

Mentioning about the pace of development, he said at the time of formation Chhattisgarh has 16 districts, which was increased to 18 in 2007 and now it had been decided to have nine more districts, taking the total numbers of new revenue administrative units to 27.

Chhattisgarh was o longer identified as a state of underdeveloped and migration. Rather it was now known as a progressive state with high pace of development, the Chief Minister said.

Speaker Dharam Lal Kaushik and Culture and PWD Minister Brij Mohan Agrawal also addressed the gathering.
