Jagdalpur, November 10, 2011: Union Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Jairam Ramesh today said the Centre has decided to audit the Rural Development works through the Comptroller and Auditor General of India.
After the Defence, Panchayat Raj and Rural Development was having the second highest budgetary allocation, Ramesh told a meeting here after visiting various places of Narayanpur and Bastar districts.
Since the budgetary allocation was more than rupees one lakh crore, it had been decided to audit all the works of the Rural Development through the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG), he said.
To bring transparency and quality in the works, it was essential to have a proper audit of the fund, the central Minister said.
