Lt Gen Anil Chait in Chhattisgarh

Raipur, April 04, 2012: General Officer Commanding in Chief of Central Command Lt Gen Anil Chait, who is on his maiden visit of Chhattisgarh, today visited Kondagaon to meet his soldiers, who are undergoing training in Bastar region and also met the Governor and Chief Minister and discussed about some important issues.

Lt Gen Chait met the Governor Shekhar Dutt and Chief Minister Raman Singh and thanked them for their assistance and cooperation given to the army in establishing themselves in the State, official sources said here.

He also discussed about the land issues at Chakrabhata, Saraipali Naya Raipur and Narayanpur, they added.

He also visited Kondagaon and lauded the jawans for the good standards achieved in training.

"The more you train in peace, the less you bleed in war," Lt Gen Chait said.

It has nearly been two weeks since the Army third formation arrived in Chhattisgarh for the purpose of training. Having established themselves in temporary camps, the Army personnel have been involved in carrying out manoeuvre training for the past two weeks.

The GoC interacted with tribals at Village Gangamunda on Kondagaon Narayanpur road. A large number of people including women and youth from the neighbouring villages of Chaudang, Pala, Kodagaon and Kabai Balenga had gathered to meet him.

Calling upon the youth to join the Indian Army and serve the nation in building peace, he informed them that the Army Brigade under training in the area would soon be starting recruitment training for potential youth, so that they are well prepared for the recruitment rally scheduled in April & May 2012 in Chhattisgarh.

The Army has also been involved in carrying out numerous civic activities in Chhattisgarh for the benefit of the local people. They have given medical aid to the needy, provided amenities to schools, helped the locals with various projects and carried out afforestation of large areas.

During his visit, Lt Gen Chait also interacted with District Collector and Superintendent of Police, Narayanpur. He apprised them that Narayanpur ranges are an asset for training and owing to the excellent terrain and climatic conditions the Army is likely to use the ranges as per the training calendar for the year.
