Traders cancel 4-day Chhattisgarh bandh after meeting CM Raman

Dr.Raman Singh

Raipur, April 15, 2012: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh today said he would write to Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh to amend the National Food Safety and Standards Act 2006 as that may create problems for the small traders.

Although the Central Food Safety and Standards Act could protect the interest of the common men but it had some impractical conditions, which may create problems for small businessmen, the Chief Minister told a delegation of traders here.

Because of that, Singh said, he would soon write to the Prime Minister to amend those sections, officials said.

He also assured the delegation not to enforce some of the sections of the Act strictly in the state.

After having a discussion with the Chief Minister, the main three trade bodies of the state withdrew their proposed four-day shut down strike.

The traders had earlier announced to go on strike from April 16 against the Central Act.
