Raipur, April 17, 2012: The prestigious IIT Kharagpur today signed a memorandum of understanding with the Government of Chhattisgarh to open a centre in the state.
Director Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur Prof Damodar Acharya and Secretary Technical Education of Chhattisgarh Nidhi Chhibbar signed the MoU in a function in the presence of Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh, Chief Secretary Sunil Kumar and a host of ministers, officials and academicians.
The MoU was signed at the state Secretariat for establishing extension centre of the IIT Kharagpur at Raipur.
It was a historic day for Chhattisgarh as the first IIT of India today came to Chhattisgarh, Chief Secretary Sunil Kumar said.
The state would be immensely benefitted from the new development as the IIT Kharagpur would help the state in capacity building and skill improvement of the faculty and industry here, the Chief Secretary said.
Prof Acharya said they would try to develop faculty in technical institutes of the area.
"We will work in capacity building in the field of irrigation, power and other sectors while using the latest technology and methods," he said.
