New Delhi, April 24, 2012: Union Minister Charan Das Mahant today met Union Home Minister P Chidambaram and demanded safe release of Sukma District Collector Alex V F Paul Menon V, who was abducted by Maoists on April 21.
Mahant met the Union Minister and requested him to provide all assistance to Chhattisgarh government for the safe release of Sukma Collector, official sources said.
The lone Lok Sabha MP from Chhattisgarh, Mahant also stressed for stern action against the Maoists.
There should be stern action against the Maoists to deal with their abduction and violent activities, he said.
When the 2006-batch IAS officer was on a tour of the Majhipara area in Sukma District during Gram Suraj Abhiyan, he was confronted by the Maoists guerrilla and after exchange of fire, the civil servant was kidnapped by Maoists after killing both his body guards on April 21.
