NDA, Left call for Bharat Bandh on Sept 20

BJP

New Delhi, September 18, 2012: NDA and Left parties have called for a general strike Bharat Bandh on September 20 to protest against hike in diesel price, cap on subsidised domestic LPG and FDI in multi-brand retail.

Samajwadi Party, Biju Janata Dal and DMK have also supported the bandh call.

However, Shiv Sena has decided not to join the bandh looking into the Ganapati celebration in Maharashtra.

Meanwhile, West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee has opposed the bandh call since her arch rival Left parties have called for the bandh.

Although she had strongly opposed the UPA government, in which her TMC was a partner, for the FDI in retail sector, hike in diesel price and cap in subsidised LPG but she opposed the bandh.

Various transport organisations and trader bodies of several states have also announced to join the bandh.
