CM annoys with rural electrification work

Raipur, September 19, 2012: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh today expressed his strong displeasure over the pace of works on rural electrification in his Rajnandgaon district.

The Chief Minister has taken the delay in rural electrification in the Rajnandgaon district seriously, official sources said. Singh represents Rajnandgaon assembly constituency in the state Assembly.

Expressing his displeasure over the pace of work, Singh has directed District Collector Ashok Agrawal and officials of the State Electricity Board to sit together with the agencies, who have been entrusted the work and review the matter.

Officials said the agencies have been given the job to set up 1018 transformers in the district and so far only 542 have been put in place and a meager 159 have only been handed over to the power distribution company.

As per the plan the government wanted to supply electricity on single point to 13,887 households and so far only 6,663 houses have been benefitted, they said.
