First PPP Model Rail Corridors in Chhattisgarh

Naya Raipur, November 03, 2012: For the first time in the Indian history, adopting a public-private partnership model, a memorandum of understanding was signed today to invest Rs 4000 crore to develop two rail corridors in Chhattisgarh.

"This is for the first time such a PPP model is adopted to develop a rail corridor in the country," Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh said after the MOU was signed here in the concluding day of the 2-day Global Investors Meet.

The MoU was signed here to develop 180 Km long Bhudevpur-Gharghoda-Dharamjaigarh to connect with Korba and 122 Km long Deepka-Katghora-Sindurgarh-Pasan to connect Geora Road to Pendra Road.

Both the rail corridors would be opened to passenger and goods traffic, officials said.

Both the MoUs were signed between the Principal Secretary Transport N K Aswal of Chhattisgarh, Director (Finance) of central PSU South Eastern Coalfield Limited A R Komabar and Managing Director of Ircon International Company Limited Mohan Tiwari.

All the three would form a joint venture to carry out the projects.
