EX-MLA Commits Suicide in Chhattisgarh

Bilaspur, November 17, 2012: Former Chhattisgarh Congress MLA Dr Rakesh Kumar Singh today committed suicide, Bilaspur police said.

Singh shoot himself from his licensed revolver and committed suicide at his house here, police sources said.

"It is not immediately known, why Singh committed suicide," Bilaspur District Superintendent of Police Ratan Lal Dangi told ChhattisgarhTopNews.Com.

Singh had represented Akaltara segment from 1985 to 1990 as a Congress MLA.

His younger brother Sourav Singh is currently Akaltara MLA from BSP ticket.

The incident has created sensation in the area as they are a very prominent family with a large number of followers.
