50 lakh tons Paddy procured in Chhattisgarh

Raipur, January 13, 2013: Chhattisgarh has procured about 50 lakh tonnes of paddy from its farmers in the minimum support price, officials said today.

Through its procurement centres, the state has so far procured 48.376 lakh tonnes of paddy, official sources said here.

In money term, this would be worth about Rs 6100.49 crore, they added.

Through the 1947 procurement centres, spread all over the state, the government has purchased 48,37,619 tonnes of paddy, they added.

On this procurement season the state was expecting to purchase 68.55 lakh tonnes of paddy.

Paddy procurement was started through the nodal agency State Marketing Federation (MARKFED) on November 01, 2012 and would continue till January 31, 2013 and on linking up to February 15, next.
