A local court in Raigarh district yesterday convicted a witch doctor of killing an eleven year old boy for good fortune and ordered him hang to death, Raigarh SP Rahul Bhagat told ChhattisgarhTopNews.Com.

The 32-year old Dilip Rathia was convicted on charges of murder, hiding evidences and giving false information to screen the offence, Bhagat said.

It was a blind case, which was not only cracked, but also in a speedy trial, capital punishment was awarded to the accused, Additional SP Raigarh Praful Thakur said.

On a tip off, police raided the house of a person, who was practicing witch craft and from his premises the head of the boy was also recovered, said Thakur.

"The exhumed skeleton and DNA and other forensic tests confirmed that was of the boy," he said.

"With scientific and other evidences it was proved that the man had beheaded the boy and his head was offered to the Goddess to have a better fortune," Thakur said.
