Over 59 per cent polling in Bastar LS seat



Jagdalpur, April 10, 2014: Bastar Lok Sabha seat today went to poll with 59.31 per cent voters exercised their franchise in the Maoists hit parliamentary seat.

A total of 59.31 per cent voters of Maoist-hit Bastar Lok Sabha seat today exercised their right, Election Commission sources said.

The percentage of polling in the 2009 Lok Sabha election was 47.33, the sources said.

Eight candidates are on the fray. However, the main fight would be between Dinesh Kashyap of BJP and Deepak Karma of Congress.

A total of 1407 polling booths out of a total of 1797 booths had been declared sensitive and keeping that in mind elaborate security arrangements had also been made.

The constituency has a total of 12,98,083 voters.

Counting of votes will take place on May 16, 2014.
