August 29, 2014: In a significant political development, Congress candidate from Antagarh by-poll Mangtu Ram Pawar withdrew his nomination.
Mangtu Ram Pawar today withdrew his nomination from the Antagarh by-election, Kanker Collector Alarmelmangai D said.
With that the Congress party does not have a candidate now for Antagarh assembly by-election.
Pawar is a close confidant of former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi and after the state was formed in the year 2000 Pawar had offered to even vacate his seat for Jogi to enter the state assembly.
The Antagarh Assembly by-election would be held on September 13 and the counting of votes on September 16.
After Vikram Usendi elected to Lok Sabha from Kanker as a BJP candidate he had vacated the Antagarh seat.
