New Probe committee to look into Shanti Kashyap scandal

Bilaspur, August 08, 2015: Vice Chancellor of Pandit Sundarlal Sharma Open University, Bilaspur, Bansh Gopal Sharma today constituted a three-member committee to probe the Shanti Kashyap issue after dissolving a two-member committee for giving controversial statement.

Dr M D Tripathy, Regional Coordinator Bilaspur, Raj Kumar Jaiswal Regional Coordinator Ambikapur and Regional Director Raipur Suresh Mohan have been made the members of the committee.

Meanwhile, the Vice Chancellor also said reports of both the committees will be considered and FIR will also be lodged in the matter, if required.

However, the Vice Chancellor refused to reveal the content of the first probe team.

After questions were raised about the impartiality of the previous probe team, the Vice Chancellor had dissolved that committee.

A two-member probe team had yesterday visited the house of the Chhattisgarh School Education Minister Kedar Kashyap and took the statement of his wife Shanti after allegation that someone else had appeared in place of Shanti Kashyap in her MA English Final examination.

However, talking to media after the statement, one of the members of the probe team gave the controversial statement.

Member B A Mishra said they have completed the probe and Shanti was like his daughter, which created doubt among many about the impartiality of the probe committee.

Also when the probe team was taking the statement of Shanti Kashyap at the residence of the Education Minister, the minister himself was present at his quarter.

At the Lohandiguda Government Higher Secondary School of Bastar District, in the final MA English examination on August 4 last, instead of Shanti Kashyap, someone else had appeared in the exam.

When officials reached the Centre and started probing the identity of the girl, who was appearing for Shanti, the girl slipped out of the room silently without revealing her original identity.

Lohandiguda Tehsildar had also reached the School and initiated action on the matter.
