Raipur, September 15, 2015: Due to scanty rainfall, a total of 93 tehsils of Chhattisgarh were today declared drought hit by the cabinet.
A cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh, discussed the drought situation of the state in details.
In the cabinet it was decided to declare 93 tehsils drought hit looking into the rainfall record, said Agriculture and Irrigation Minister Brij Mohan Agrawal.
The cabinet also decided to release immediately water from Gangrel Dam for irrigation purpose to save the standing crop, he said.
The cabinet discussed the issues relating to farmers for three and half hours and the government will do everything to help the farmers, said Agrawal.
