T.S. Baba

Raipur, August 25, 2016: Opposition Congress today accused the BJP government in Chhattisgarh of protecting scamsters and officials involved in wrongdoings.

"The Chief Minister should take action against the officials involved in wrongdoings," Leader of Opposition T S Singhdeo told reporters.

He was reacting to yesterday IG and SP Conference by the Chief Minister, where he called upon the state police forces to take action against the criminals and provide safety and security to the citizen.

When people were being forced to suffer in the hand of police, the Chief Minister was praising the faulty system, Singh Deo said and asked why the Chief Minister was silent over the rape and subsequently shot dead of Meena Khalko in police firing in Sarguja area.

There is over 100 per cent growth in the atrocities against women in the state, which needs immediate attention of the government, he said.

The Congress party also demanded the names of the people, involved in the Nagarik Apoorti Nigam or NAN Scam.

"Even after getting approval from the DoPT (Department of Personnel and Training) against two IAS officers (on the PDS Scam) the Chief Minister has not yet initiated any action against the due. This is nothing but flaying your own zero tolerance policy," he said.

After raids by the state Anti-Corruption Bureau and recovered of huge cash and other documents reflecting traction of billion of rupees, permission were sought from the Government of Indian against the then Principal Secretary Food Dr Alok Shukla and Managing Director of the State Nagarik Apoorti Nigam Anil Tuteja to prosecute them.

Even after getting permission for prosecution, the Chhattisgarh government has been sitting over the order, giving the opposition parties, including Congress, chances to make that a major issue to show the BJP government in poor light.
