By March 2017 all welfare programmes under Direct Benefit Transfer scheme



Raipur, September 06, 2016: Chhattisgarh government today said it was planning to include all the welfare programmes of people under the Direct Benefit transfer (DBT) Scheme.

Speaking in a workshop of the DBT, Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh said with the scheme there would be more transparency in the distribution of subsidy and chances of irregularities would be minimal.

The Workshop was organized by the Chhattisgarh InfoTech and Biotech promotion Society (CHiPS) here at the capital city of Raipur.

By September 30 a DBT Cell would also be set up by the state government so that the people would have a smooth and reliable digital platform, Singh said.

Chief Secretary Vivek Kumar Dhand said by March 2017 the state government wanted to include all the welfare schemes in the DBT.

To make that success, ADHAAR card number of all the beneficiaries have to be linked to the scheme, he said adding all the departments have been issued appropriate instruction in that direction.

Principal Secretary to the CM and Electronics and IT Department Aman Kumar Singh said the DBT scheme is a huge step forward for the empowerment of the people.

The purpose of this workshop was also to bring more transparency in government works through information technology besides preparing a road map for that, said Aman Kumar Singh.

Chhattisgarh government was trying initially to bring in pension, Public distribution system and wages and bonus distribution to tendu leave pluckers, the workshop was informed.
