Durg, September 11, 2016: Chhattisgarh would be spending Rs 365 crore to provide subsidized LPG connection to the people of Chhattisgarh under the centrally sponsored Ujjwala Yojana, Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh said today.
"In Chhattisgarh, 25 lakh families will be distributed free LPG connections and gas burners with the joint efforts of the state and the Central governments," Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh told a function here after launching the scheme at Durg.
BJP National General Secretary Saroj Pandey and Women and Child Welfare Minister Ramsheela Sahu were also present in the function among other leaders.
To provide the poor women LPG connection Chhattisgarh government has from its own budget allocated Rs 365 crore for the Ujjwala Scheme, Singh said.
Because of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the petroleum sector has now been opened for the poor, said Singh.
The state government will distribute free LPG connections to 25 lakh families in the next two years under the scheme, he added.
