Raipur, September 26, 2016: In a move to tape rural talents and also to promote sports in the rural sector of Chhattisgarh, the state government has approved an ambitious proposal to construct 132 Mini stadiums in the rural areas.
Under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Schemes construction of (MGNREGS) 132 Mini stadiums have been approved by the Chhattisgarh Government to promote rural sports, Panchayat Raj and Rural Development officials said today.
For construction of 132 stadiums in the rural areas, the state government has approved a budget of Rs 41.84 crore, the officials said.
With the expenditure of about Rs 13 crore, construction of five mini stadiums have been completed where as works in the rest 116 play grounds are at various stages of construction, they said.
Meanwhile, Panchayat Raj Minister Ajay Chandrakar has directed the department officials to provide safe drinking water in the stadium premises from the allotment of the 14th Finance Commission.
