CM Baghel demands Rs 24,838 crore from Centre

New Delhi, November 25, 2022: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel today demanded Rs 24,838 crore from the Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the pre-budget meeting of the state Finance Ministers here.

Chhattisgarh is waiting for its share on coal royalty, GST, security forces deployment and others and the Centre need to release them as soon as possible, Baghel told the Finance Ministers Conference here at the national capital.

To protect the future of its employees, the state has started the old pension scheme and the NSDL should release Rs 17240 crore that are deposited with them till Mach 31, last, he said adding these money would be deposited in a separate pension fund for use in future and also the amount would be invested in state and Central securities.

The Centre should release the amount of Rs 4140 crore towards coal royalty to Chhattisgarh, the Chief Minister, who also holds the Finance portfolio, said.

The Chief Minister also demanded a GST compensation of Rs 1857 crore from the Centre.

Baghel said he had requested earlier also that the GST compensation scheme should continue for another 5 years from June 2022, which has not yet been fulfilled.

The state has spent Rs 1288 crore on the Central Para Military Forces in the state and also the state has spent Rs 313 crore on the Indian Reserve Battalion and on deployment of the 4 special battalions during their deployments in the state, he said and demanded the Centre to release all such expenses.
