Employees reject the decision of Raman govt in pay revision

Raipur, August 28, 2008: The cloud of agitation by the Chhattisgarh government employees are once again hovering over the state as the Government employees Unions today rejected the decision of the Raman Singh government on the implementation of the Six Pay Commission recommendations.



"We have been demanding the pay from January 1, 2006 as was decided by the Centre and couple of other states and if the state is not agreed to that the three lakh employees of the state will go on strike," Subhash Mishra, Convenor of the Chhattisgarh Employees and Officers Joint Forum, told ChhattisgarhTopNews.Com here.



Mishra said instead of January 2006, the state government had decided to implement the recommendation of the Six Pay commission to revise the salary of the government employees from September 2008.



"It is unacceptable to us and the same has been informed to the Chief Secretary P Joy Oommen," he said adding if that was not happening than the three lakh employees would go on strike again.



Earlier the Raman Singh government yesterday decided to avoid any confrontation with the state government employees when assembly election has already approached and announced to give salary to its employees as per the Six Pay Commission recommendation.



In a nine-lined statement, the Raman government said it had decided in principle to implement the recommendation of the Six Pay Commission and also the amended pay structure of the Government of India.



A committee, headed by the Chief Secretary P Joy Oommen, would examine the order of the Centre, once that was out for its employees and subsequently implement in the state, it said.



Three lakh employees of the state had gone on day long strike on August 21 last paralysing the works in all government offices and institutions demanding the implementation of the recommendation of the Six Pay Commission.
