Raipur, March 27, 2009: Chief Election Commissioner-designate Naveen Chawla is coming Raipur today on a two-day tour of Chhattisgarh to review the April 16 poll preparedness.
Since the Commission had a head on collision with the Police Headquarters over the deployment of security forces in naxal affected areas during November Assembly election and the previous Director General of Police Vishwa Ranjan had reportedly spew venom against Deputy Election Commissioner J P Prakash and other officials of the Commission, Chawla would review the deployment of forces in this Lok Sabha election, Election officials said.
The Commission had already announced that all the police officers would be treated as on deputation to the Election Commission and during that period the police officers would be under the control, supervision and discipline of the EC.
Chawla and Prakash would meet the representatives of various political parties in the evening today after arriving at the city, they said.
The Election Commissioner would also meet the District Collectors, Superintendents of Police, Inspectors General of Police tomorrow to review the poll preparation in all the 11 Lok Sabha seats of the state, which would be going to poll in the first phase of election on April 16, they said.
