Snag in EVMs, result affected in Durg seat

Durg, May 16, 2009: The Durg District Returning Officer Ram Singh today sought guidance from the Election Commission after two of the Electronic Voting Machines of the Durg Parliamentary Constituency developed snag and refused to function during counting of votes.

Until the written order is not received from the Election Commission, the result of the counting would not be announced, said the district election officers.

However, the officers said BJP candidate Saroj Pandey is ahead of the Congress nominee Pradeep Choubey from the seat in over 8000 votes where as both the EVMs have registered about 1000 votes.
