Naxals kill 332 in 17 months



Raipur, July 28, 2009: Chhattisgarh Government today told the State Assembly that the Maoists have killed as many as 332 people in about 17 months.

Between January 1, 2008 and May 31, 2009 the Maoists have committed as many as 972 violent incidents, Home Minister Nanki Ram Kanwar said replying to a question of Dr Haridas Bharadwaj of Congress.

During that period 103 policemen, 33 Special Police Officers, one secret police man were killed, he said.

One Flight Engineer of the Indian Air Force and nine other government officials have also been killed by the Maoists.

In that violent incidents 185 commonmen have been killed by the Maoists, Kanwar said.
