2 days state mourning in Chhattisgarh

Raipur, September 3, 2009: After getting message from the Government of India, Chhattisgarh government today declared a two days state mourning on the death of Andhra Pradesh chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy in a helicopter crash yesterday.

Chhattisgarh Government has declared a two-day state mourning, today and tomorrow, in respect of the departed soul of Reddy.

Previously one day mourning was declared but after getting wireless message from the Union Home Ministry, the state General Administration Department had amended that order and said the state would observe two days mourning, according to an official release.

During both the days the National Flag would be half mast and all official entertainment programmes have been cancelled, it said.

The chopper carrying the Chief Minister, his Principal Secretary P Subramanyam, Chief Security Officer ASC Wesley, pilot Group Captain S K Bhatia and co-pilot M S Reddy crashed atop the Rudrakonda hill in the Nallamalla range, about 40 nautical miles east of Kurnool yesterday and was traced today by the Indian Air Force and other personnel.
