Raipur, September 16, 2009: To improve the quality in power supply Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh has approved purchase of Rs 150 crore worth of transformers for the state.
About 16,000 transformers would be purchased in a couple of months, spending Rs 150 crore, to strengthen the power supply system of the state, officials said today.
Energy Secretary Aman Singh has directed the officials of the electricity companies to speed up the process of purchase and install the transformers as soon as possible.
In many pockets power supply was disrupted due to lack of sufficient transformers and looking into that the Chief Minister had directed his officials to purchase sufficient transformers to improve the quality of power supply, they said.
Currently the state had 57,000 transformers.
