New Delhi, September 24, 2009: Chhattisgarh Cadre 1989 batch IPS officer Ashok Juneja has been appointed by the Central government as the head of security for the Commonwealth games.
Juneja has been appointed as the Director Security in the Organizing Committee of the Commonwealth Games, officials said today.
When ChhattisgarhTopNews.Com contacted, Juneja has confirmed the report and said he would be looking after the security of the game.
The IG ranked officer is currently posted as the Resident Commissioner at New Delhi.
Following his new appointment, the Centre has asked the Chhattisgarh Chief Secretary P Joy Oommen to relief him from the state for a Central Deputation, officials said.
Juneja is one of the few officers of the state, who has a very clean image and treated as a finest gentleman.
During his two decades of police services, he had served in the Transport and Sports Departments and also in the State Secretariat as Home Secretary and his association with the Commonwealth Games would make the state proud.
