Raipur. Feb 25, 2010: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh today demanded the Centre to declare the minimum support price for paddy to Rs 1400 per quintal.
Replying to a debate on the general budget for the next fiscal, Singh, who also holds the Finance portfolio, demanded in the state assembly to hike the minimum support price of paddy to Rs 1400.
He also suggested that the Centre should give interest free loan to the states to purchase paddy since the state was functioning as a procurement agent for the Centre.
Shifting the responsibility on the centre for the Inflation, the Chief Minister also blamed the economic policy of the UPA government for the increase in prices of essential commodities.
His government was determined to establish peace and carry out large scale development of all regions of the state, Singh said.
