Ramesh Bais to spoil other's scope

BJP

Raipur, May 6, 2010: Ruling BJP in Chhattisgarh was grappling with the situation to select its next state President even after former Union Minister Ramesh Bais openly came forward about his willingness to lead the state party unit.

"I wanted to become the President of the State BJP," said the Raipur Lok Sabha MP Bais.

However, a section of leaders in BJP said Bais was less interested to become the State BJP President rather he was more interested to spoil the scope of some of the top leaders.

It was an open secret in the state BJP that Bais was not pulling well with the Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh and a couple of other organizational leaders.

After Law Minister Ram Vichar Netam allegedly beaten up a state civil servant at Bilaspur, some of the party leaders had racked up his name for the post saying it would serve two purposes, his ministerial berth would be taken back and secondly he would have hardly any power to throw his weight around.

Former State President Nand Kumar Sai is also eager to occupy the top post once again, although he has more enemies than friends in the state unit.

Although party insiders were raising the name of Sarguja MP Murari Lal Singh, but it was not clear whether he had the proper backing of the organization or they would go for some leader who was rejected by the people in the assembly or Lok Sabha election.

When contacted All India General Secretary Dharmendra Pradhan refused to name the person who would lead the state unit.

Although a couple of days are to go for the poll, but the scene was not clear who would actually lead the party in the state.
