Vishwa Ranjan is not listening: Special DG CRPF Vijay Raman

Raipur, July 17, 2010: Adding one more chapter on the unsuccessful policing in Maoist hit Chhattisgarh, the Special Director General of CRPF Vijay Raman has reportedly accused the state Director General of Police Vishwa Ranjan of not listening to him.

"The DGP is not listening... The point is when you are given an assignment the first thing you need to do is become a part of the solution. The illegal killings have contributed to the problem. So if you are party to it then you become a part of the problem," the Special DG CRPF reportedly told The Week magazine.

He also said Chhattisgarh was the most challenging state in the fight against Maoists.

Like his Home Minister P Chidambaram, Raman also said he was not agreed to the idea of Operation Green Hunt being carried out against naxalites in Chhattisgarh.

"This operation is a creation of Chhattisgarh's Director-General of Police. I don't subscribe to it. As far as Government of India is concerned, it does not exist".

Many people are seeing the interview as a reaction to the statement of Vishwa Ranajn that the state police can not teach the CRPF how to walk after 27 CRPF personnel were killed in Narayanpur district last month.

Even during the visit of the Union Home Secretary G K Pillai, he also admitted that there were problems between the CRPF and the state police on the issue of anti-naxal operation.
