Maoists blown up bullet proof vehicle, killing 3 cops

Rajnandgaon, October 08, 2010: Maoists today blown up a bullet proof vehicle of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) in Maharashtra-Chhattisgarh border, killing three security forces, police said.

"One head constable and two constables were killed today when the Maoists blown up their vehicle in Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra," police sources told ChhattisgarhTopNews.Com.

The bullet proof vehicle was badly damaged in the blast, they said.

When three police personnel of the ITBP were travelling in a bullet proof vehicle in Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra state, the Maoists triggered an improvised explosive device and blown up the vehicle, they said.

All the security personnel were from the Kohka camp of Rajnandgaon district in Chhattisgarh and were on an operation when the incident took place in Maharashtra state area, the police said.

Additional forces from Chhattisgarh side had been rushed to the spot and search operation was on to nab the Maoists, who are responsible for that incident, they said.

Indo-Tibetan Border Police had been deployed a year back in Chhattisgarh to check naxal-violence.

About a year back the then SP V K Choubey and several of his security personnel were killed in an ambush in Madanwada area of Rajnandgaon district.
