Raigarh, February 27, 2025: Chhattisgarh administration has taken strict action against violation of environmental safety rules during transportation of raw materials, products and waste here in the industrial district of Raigarh in Chhattisgarh.
Taking the matter seriously, Collector Kartikeya Goel constituted a joint investigation team and during inspection it imposed an environmental compensation fee of Rs 10.51 lakh on 14 industries.

Regional Environment Officer Ankur Sahu has stated that the district level investigation committee constituted during February 15 to 21, 2025 conducted a thorough investigation of vehicles transporting raw materials, products and waste in various areas including Chandrapur, Kodatarai, Hamirpur, Dhimrapur, Tamnar, Gharghoda and Palgarha.

During this, many vehicles were found transporting raw materials in the open without tarpaulin cover, which increased the possibility of spreading environmental pollution, he said.
Apart from this, some vehicles lacked 5 cm free board space, which posed a risk of material falling.
Also the name of the concerned nodal officer was not mentioned on many vehicles, which is a clear violation of the rules. Due to this, fine of Rs 10.51 lakh has been imposed on 14 industries in Raigarh, Sahu added.
