Raipur, May 20, 2024: In a major accident, 17 women and a male were killed today in a road accident in Kawardha district of Chhattisgarh.
When the vehicle was in speed, the driver lost controlled while negotiating at turning and fell in a 20 feet gorge after which the vehicle turned turtled, Rajnandgaon Inspector General of police Deepak Jha told ChhattisgarhTopNews.Com.
At least 17 women and a male were killed in that accident, 15 of them on the spot, the police officer said.
About four persons were seriously injured in that incident, who are being shifted to hospital, the police officer said.
However, the driver jumped of the vehicle and runaway before the accident took place, police said
Couple of other people also jumped of the vehicle. But who could not jump died in the accident, the police said.
The incident took place in Interior Bahapani village in Kawardha district of Chhattisgarh.
All these people were labourers and returning back from nearby forest after plucking Tendu leaves, Jha said.
Police has reached the spot and the rescue operation was under progress.
