Raipur, February 24, 2023: Crucial 3-day Plenary Session of the Congress party is starting here today, which will be addressed by the top party leaders.
However, all eyes are on the decision of the steering committee on the election for the Central Working Committee or the CWC.
The 85th plenary session of the Congress party is being held at the Naya Raipur, and party sources said they are expecting attendance of over 12 thousand workers and leaders.
Congress is expected to take key decisions here which would help the party draft a roadmap for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and a strategy to forge alliances with other political parties.
The plenary session would endorse the presidentship of Mallikarjun Kharge and pave the way for a new central working committee led by him.
On the first day of the three-day session, the steering committee will today decide whether to have elections or not for the CWC, the top decision-making body of the party.
There will be a meeting of the Subjects Committee later in the day in which six resolutions will be considered. These resolutions would be discussed tomorrow and on February 26.
Resolutions related to political, economic and international matters will be discussed tomorrow and on February 26, resolutions related to agriculture and farmers welfare, social justice and empowerment, and youth, employment and education will be discussed, party sources said.
President Mallikarjun Kharge will address the session at 2 PM on February 26 and at 4 PM a public meeting will be held at Raipur, the sources said.
