Raipur, February 25, 2024: Three Maoists were today shot by the security forces in a joint operation in Kanker district in Bastar region of Chhattisgarh, official sources said.
When the forces were on a search operation jungle of Bhomra-Huratrai in Koyalibeda area in Kanker district of Chhattisgarh they had a gun battle with the Maoists, official sources said.
In the firing from the forces three Maoists were shot dead and besides their bodies two weapons were also seized during further search of the area, they said.
DRG, District Forces, SSB and BSF were jointly carrying out the search operation against the Maoist in Kanker district.
From the gun battle site materials belonging to the ultras were also seized, the sources said.
The Maoists have stepped up their activities in the Bastar region after BJP came to power in the state in December 2023.
Sources claimed that the killed Maoists were members of the Company number 5 of the banned organisation of Maoist.
