Raipur, January 20, 2023: Chhattisgarh has become the second largest state in the country in contributing paddy to the central pool, officials said today.
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel today congratulated the people for breaking all previous records on paddy procurement by the state.
Chhattisgarh has so far contributed 92 lakh tons paddy to the central pool, which is a record by itself, official sources said.
The state has so far procured 103 lakh tons of paddy and is expected to touch 110 lakh tones by the last date of procurement, on January 31, 2023.
This year a total of 24.96 lakh farmers had been registered with the state government, including 2.3 lakh new farmers, officials said.
The state government had set the target of 1.10 crore tons paddy this Khariff season in minimum support price and to achieve that target the state has set up 2617 procurement centres, they added.
