Raipur, November 24, 2024: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai today issued warning of stern action against the people, who are engaged in spreading rumours about the paddy procurement process in the state and trying to misguide the farmers.
As per the “guarantee” of Prime Minister Narendra Modi given to the people of Chhattisgarh, this year also paddy is being procured from the farmers at the rate of 21 quintals per acre.
Farmers should not have any kind of confusion regarding this matter, Sai said.
At the same time, the Chief Minister warned that strict action will be taken against those spreading confusion and trying to mislead the farmers in this regard.
Sai said paddy procurement is on the top of priority of his government. The state government is procuring paddy at the support price from the registered farmers of the state with full commitment, he said.
Keeping in mind the interest of the farmers, the facility of withdrawing an amount ranging from Rs 2000 to Rs 10 thousand from the micro ATMs of the procurement centers has also been provided, he said.
This will facilitate the farmers in paying the freight and porterage wages of tractors, matadors etc. hired for transporting paddy for sale.
It is noteworthy that on the instructions of Chief Minister Sai, the process of continuous paddy procurement is going on in Chhattisgarh.
The paddy procurement campaign started on 14 November and will continue till January 31, 2025.
About 27.68 lakh farmers have registered for this Kharif year. This includes 1.45 lakh new farmers.
This year 160 lakh metric tons of paddy is estimated to be purchased through 2739 procurement centers spread over the state. Arrangements have been made for paddy procurement through biometric devices in all procurement centers. Paddy produced by small, marginal and large farmers will be purchased at the prescribed support price, he said.
The Chief Minister said that arrangements for adequate gunny bags, shade, water etc. have been ensured in all procurement centers. Helpline numbers have also been displayed at paddy procurement centres for complaints and redressal.
Special monitoring arrangements have been made in the border areas of the state and check posts have been established. At the state level, investigation teams of senior state level officials have been formed for different districts, who are continuously monitoring the paddy procurement taking place in the districts.
