Raipur, February 26, 2025: In a peace committee meeting with the Christian Community the Police administration of Chhattisgarh has assured providing security to the members of the community and appealed to the people to maintain peace and harmony.
A peace committee meeting was held with the office bearers and representatives of the Christian community at the Civil Lines auditorium in Raipur, chaired by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Raipur Dr Lal Umed Singh, and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Baloda Bazar Vijay Agrawal.

From the Christian community prominent personalities including President of Chhattisgarh Christian Forum Arun Pannalal, members of the Church Committee Vicky Pal and Amit Das, Sarpanch of Gram Panchayat Vishrampur Archana, and, Sarpanch of Gram Panchayat Ganeshpur Reshu Masih among others attended the meeting.
The meeting mainly focused on ensuring social harmony, peace and security arrangements in the Christian-majority areas such as Vishrampur, Ganeshpur, and Jhanakpur on March 1, 2025, official sources said today.
SSP Raipur Dr Lal Umed Singh stated that the Police have registered an FIR and are investigating the matter of a controversial post related to these villages had been circulated recently.
Singh stated that the post may be fake, but no conclusive evidence has been found yet. Police is conducting an in-depth investigation, and all facts will be clarified soon, he added.
The police administration has urged all citizens to maintain social harmony, resolve mutual differences peacefully, and cooperate in upholding law and order. The officials assured that appropriate legal actions would be taken to maintain peace and security.
During the meeting, SSP Baloda Bazar Vijay Agrawal stated that strict action had been taken against animal cruelty with the support of local residents. Legal actions under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act will be taken against offenders and those protecting such acts will also face strict legal consequences, Agrawal said.
Public representatives and office bearers were requested to remain vigilant against such crimes and promote awareness at the community level to prevent animal cruelty. The attendees assured their commitment to taking necessary initiatives at the societal level, the sources said.
Meanwhile, the representatives and villagers had requested for regular police patrolling in their areas to enhance security and ensure a sense of safety among residents.
Additionally, they requested special security arrangements to prevent any untoward incident during the board examinations starting from March 1, 2025.
SSP Baloda Bazar Agrawal assured the villagers that police patrolling would be intensified, and flag marches would be conducted regularly to enhance security.
He further stated that people should not feel threatened as all necessary measures would be taken to uphold peace, harmony and law enforcement. Special security arrangements will be in place during the board examinations, ensuring an uninterrupted examination process, he added.
At the conclusion of the meeting, all citizens were urged to maintain peace, avoid rumours and cooperate with the police administration to uphold law and order.
