Bhilai, March 10, 2025: Congress today opposed the raid on former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and staged a sit-on protest in front of his Bhilai residence in Durg district of Chhattisgarh.

“We will not be scared by such action. We will definitely defeat all such move,” Leader of Opposition Dr Charan Das Mahant said while commenting on the ED raid.
This action exposes the revenge attitude of the Central government, said AICC in-charge of Chhattisgarh Sachin Pilot.

“BJP is using central agencies like ED and CBI to terrorise and suppress the opposition. It has become a pattern now to crush the voice of opposition and threaten the political opponents,” through ‘X’ said Pilot.
In the state Assembly also Congress members attempted to raise the issue and entered the well of the house, only to be suspended automatically for violation of house rule.
Several Congress leaders blamed the BJP behind the raids on the residence of former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, his son Chaitanya and about 13 other locations.
The Congress leaders, including MLAs, also joined the workers in a sit-in protest in front of the Bhilai house of Baghel, where ED was busy in the probe relating to the alleged liquor scam.
Congress workers were seen raising slogans in support of Baghel, against the ED and calling upon Baghel to fight against the move.
In an early morning raid the ED (Enforcement Directorate) conducted probe on the Bhilai residence of former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel for his son’s alleged involvement in liquor scam. Both father and son live in their Bhilai home.
A team of officials with elaborate security reached early morning at the Bhilai house of Baghel and started their probe.
The agency has not yet issued any press release on the matter.
Sleuth from the ED also raided the premises of people close to Chaitanya and multiple other locations of Chhattisgarh.
Baghel was voted out from power in 2023 Assembly election and is recently appointed as the AICC General Secretary in-charge of Punjab.
Several top bureaucrats and Kawasi Lakhma, who was Excise Minister in Bhupesh Baghel cabinet, are currently in jail, waiting for completion of trial, for their alleged involvement in the liquor scam.
